Revenue collection and monitor are two keys that each one of mini-grid or micro-grid developers want. Card type prepayment meter and PLC communication are frequently used solutions. However none of them fit into Mini-grid scenario. Card type meters usually operate with its manufacturer's proprietary prepayment standard, therefore will not integrate with any other solution. Besides card meters need card contact for any top-up or data exchange, which in reality, gives a lot of trouble such as limit of POS business hours, card loss, card damage. PLC may work in main grid. But mini-grid's unstable power flow vastly interferes PLC communication, which leads to connection loss.
